Veterans Resources

Prairie Senior Cottages deeply appreciates the dedication and sacrifices of all veterans and their families. In recognition of their commitment and bravery, we are honored to partner with Patriot Angels to make senior care more affordable and accessible for veterans and their spouses.

Patriot Angels assists veterans and their spouses or widows in navigating the complexities of service-earned benefits available through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, including Aid & Attendance, VA Healthcare, and VA Disability benefits. By working directly with veterans, Patriot Angels streamlines the application process, cuts through the mountains of red tape, and ensures veterans receive the benefits they have rightfully earned through their dedicated service to America.

Families will receive two free consultations to discuss eligiblity for these benefits. After the two free sessions, if your family decides to move forward, Patriot Angels does charge a one time fee for their services.  We are proud to partner with Patriot Angels in leading the change to helping U.S. Wartime Veterans and their spouses secure the necessary approvals for their Aid and Attendance benefits, making senior care more affordable for those who have served our country.

Helping U.S. Wartime Heroes and spouses pay for their senior care.

Not every military veteran qualifies for Aid and Attendance benefits. Eligibility requirements include service, medical, and financial criteria. The veteran must have served at least 90 days of active duty before 1980 or 24 months after 1980, with at least one day during wartime, and must not have received a dishonorable discharge.

Additionally, one of the following conditions must be met: the veteran is over 65, has a permanent and total disability, is a long-term nursing home patient due to a disability, or is already receiving Social Security Disability Insurance or Supplemental Security Income.

Financially, the veteran’s net worth, including assets and annual income (excluding primary residence, car, and basic home furnishings), must be less than $155,356 through November 2024.
